Matrashaus

We usually manage the house from June to October. However, please call the hut at the beginning and end of the season to be on the safe side. The house offers a total of 105 regular sleeping places (18 of them as bed camps). There is no bedding in either the bed camps or the regular camps, so it is necessary to bring a hut sleeping bag. There are normally 2 blankets per sleeping place.(no blankets are available in times of Corona!!!Please bring your sleeping bag). It is advisable to reserve a sleeping place in any case. We allocate sleeping places as soon as you arrive at the hut. But as soon as all camp places are taken, only emergency camps are available. Emergency camps are only made in the winter room with a total of 10 places. Therefore, you should not risk coming to Matrashaus without a reservation. No emergency camps are made in the guest lounge or the hallways, as these are escape routes and must not be occupied. There are blankets in the winter room, but no heating or cooking facilities. We leave some drinking water bottles and beer cans in the winter room in autumn. However, these are generally frozen in winter. Matrashaus is one of the highest refuges in the Alps. The hut stands at 2941m directly on the summit of the Hochkönig. The Königsjodler via ferrata ends at Hoher Kopf, from where it is another 45 minutes or so to Matrashaus. The Franz-Eduard-Matras Haus is owned by the Austrian Tourist Club (ÖTK). Due to its unique location, Matrashaus offers a view of over 200 three-thousand-metre peaks. The view ranges from the Tote Gebirge over the Großglockner to the Zugspitze. The sunrise and sunset at Matrashaus are famous. As all the approaches from the valley are very long, the hut is supplied exclusively by helicopter. Book overnight stay SLEEPING PLACES can only be booked via the Hütten-Holiday reservation portal. Bookings for 2022 are possible from December 2021 onwards This is the booking link... No reservations, cancellations or changes are possible by phone. You can also see if there are still free places on the booking page of Hütten-Holiday. If you have any questions or problems with the reservation, please contact service@huetten-holiday.de directly. 1st deposit: With every booking you have to pay a deposit of 10,- € per person. This will be returned to you when you arrive at the hut, or if you cancel in good time. In addition, the reservation portal Hütten Holiday charges a service fee of between € 0.80 and € 1.50 per person. You will not get this service fee back even if you cancel in time. 2nd Cancellation: The booking can be cancelled free of charge up to 2 days before the scheduled date. (Example: a booking for the night from Saturday to Sunday can be cancelled until Thursday 24:00 h). The deposit is forfeited if you do not show up at the hut or have not cancelled in time. Better cancel in time if you are not sure about the weather, otherwise your deposit will be forfeited !!! 3. bed storage The dormitories cannot be reserved. If you prefer to stay in a dormitory, please write this in the comments when booking. We allocate the dormitories in the order of arrival. If there are no more bed camps available, there will only be normal camps. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to say which Corona rules will apply to overnight stays in 2022! 4. staying overnight without booking: In 2020/2021 it was DEFINITELY not possible to stay overnight at Matrashaus without a booking. It is not yet possible to say what rules will apply in 2022. Emergency camps: We do not have any emergency camps. Neither in the guest room nor in the attic or anywhere else in the hut.
